Transitioning from This Thing is Real to documenting Is It Any One Thing marked a significant shift in how I approached the intersection of movement and still photography. While the previous project focused on the raw, unvarnished labor of a rehearsal residency, this new work evolved into an exploration of "controlled chaos." Because Annalee was working within the disciplined, geometric medium of ballet, there was an inherent structure to the energy in the room.
